Pupil Premium

“A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside.” Denis Waitley

Introduced in April 2011, the pupil premium is allocated to children who are looked after by the local authority, those who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years and for children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces. In effect, the school will receive financial support in order to help those pupils who are found legible for Pupil Premium funding.

How the money will be spent

Schools have flexibility over how they use the pupil premium, as they, along with the parents of the pupils, are best placed to understand their specific needs and to address the barriers that might prevent such children from achieving their full potential. For example, schools could choose to invest in one-to-one tuition or catch-up sessions for particular curriculum subjects, or training for staff on issues relating to attachment.
